Benjamin Franklin

floc soc™ — quick to deploy, easy to use, highly effective

The Problem:

Runoff moves fast. If sediment and pollutants leave your site, compliance issues and delays can follow.

Who Uses This?

  • construction sites
  • road crews
  • post-fire runoff control
  • utility projects
  • ag drainage areas

The Solution:

Floc Soc™ deploys in minutes to filter runoff and help keep water leaving your site clearer and under control.

Common stormwater contaminations removed with the Floc Soc™ include…

  • Sediment (negatively charged soil particles)
  • GRO / DRO (gasoline and diesel range organics)
  • Oil and greases
  • TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbons)

The Floc Soc Kit™ is a compact, complete portable kit that deploys in minutes. It's perfect for applications (i.e. stormwater runoff from construction, pipe main breaks, wellhead rinse ups) where there is no infrastructure.

A one-pound Floc Soc™ inserted into a discharge hose. Each Floc Soc Kit™:

  • Contains ten (1 lb.) Floc Socs, designed to dose at 1-2 mg/L.
  • Each Kit capable of treating 1 million gallons of turbid water at flow rates up to 500 gpm.
  • Requires a TSS thickening tank, basin or equal.

Floc Soc™ in the field:

  • 50 gpm pumped flow rate using a 1-lb.
    Floc Soc™
  • Influent greater than 1,000 NTU
  • Effluent <15 NTU treated in < 30 seconds

You can’t get turbid water with sediment (soil particles) to settle out without help.

Mud puddles don’t settle out the mud, they evaporate leaving the mud (soil particles) behind.

The flocculated stormwater runoff (treated through a Floc Soc™) needs to into a settling pond, tank or equal to get the coagulated sediment to drop out in minutes.

Floc Soc™ is the help you need.

Floc Soc™ is a portable runoff filtration device designed to reduce sediment, turbidity, and contaminants in stormwater before they leave a site. It deploys quickly and helps reduce environmental risk during construction, land disturbance, or emergency runoff events.

As turbid stormwater passes through the Floc Soc, whether by gravity or under pump pressure, it slowly dissolves at a 1-3 mg/L dose rate, then binds to the sediment particles, neutralizing their charge (-), then flocculating out of solution.

A settling pond, tank or equal is required to drop out the flocculated sediment and allow the turbid free clear water to discharge.clarity and reducing pollutant transport.

It’s suitable for construction sites, roadwork, post-fire landscapes, agricultural runoff zones, and emergency stormwater management situations—anywhere uncontrolled runoff may carry sediment or pollutants offsite.

Most installations take just a few minutes. Units are designed for rapid placement in flow paths, drainage swales, or site exits without heavy equipment.

The Floc Soc is designed to work both under pump pressure and by gravity.

On pumped systems, it is installed immediately on the discharge side of the pump.

For gravity fed systems, the collected stormwater has to be above the floc soc and point of discharge.

Yes. The filtration media uses chitosan, a naturally derived biopolymer widely used in water treatment. It is non-toxic and biodegradable under normal environmental conditions.

Floc Soc™ is designed to support runoff control and sediment reduction practices commonly required in stormwater management plans. Many users deploy it as an additional safeguard to reduce turbidity and visible discharge.

Stormwater runoff must be collected so that it can be treated to remove regulated contaminants prior to discharging.

The Floc Soc can meet Stormwater discharge requirements when properly installed.

Service life depends on flow volume, sediment load, and storm intensity. Units are typically used for a single storm event or until flow reduction or clogging indicates replacement is needed.

Floc Soc™ should be installed where runoff concentrates or exits a site.

Stormwater runoff is collected or routed to a common collection point, where it can be pumped through a Floc Soc into a settling basin or tank prior to discharging the clear water.

Placement diagrams and field guidance are available for download to help determine optimal positioning.

Yes. Floc Soc™ is designed to complement existing measures like silt fencing, berms, or sediment traps by providing an additional filtration step.Add an answer to this item.

Yes. Floc Soc™ is primarily supplied for commercial and institutional buyers. Contact us for pricing, distributor inquiries, or project-specific quantities.

Field sheets, compliance templates, and quick deployment guidance are available as free downloads on the site. These are designed for site managers, inspectors, and procurement teams.

It is installed (inserted) in a 4” PVC lay flat hose and you can squeeze the hose and determine when it’s been used up or empty.

It is a field kit capable of treating a million gallons of turbid stormwater discharge. Equipped with 3” to 4” Camlok reducer fittings to accommodate different pump sizes.

By replacing the ten Floc Socs once used, the Floc Soc Kit can be reloaded to treat another million gallons to stormwater runoff.
